This project started off as a string quartet intended for instrumentalists to play live. The inspiration for the music, originally, came from a very impactful event in my life. I wanted to take that emotion-inducing experience and create an inspirational story to share.

Throughout the film, the protagonist, Ella, is frantically searching for something. Meanwhile, a figure in black (who looks just like Ella) follows, holding what she is looking for. Ella gives up her search and begins to leave, dejected. Once in the car, Ella is shocked to see the figure in her back seat. The figure hands Ella what she was looking for. To her surprise, God is calling. Ella hesitantly answers the phone and has a much-needed conversation with the Lord.

The figure serves as a representative of God, and it looks like Ella because it chose a face that would be familiar to her. It also informs people that the answers you need are inside of you the whole time. A Bible verse that also inspired the vision for this film is Jeremiah 29:13, which reads “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Ella was able to find exactly what she was looking for and more.

Greetings! My name is Elaine Ransom and I am a senior music major at Spelman College, with a concentration in composition. I compose in a myriad of genres such gospel, classical, electronic, and more. Through my songs, I always hope to invoke thought and/or inspiration. Music was my first love and my faith is often communicated in the way that I minister through song.
